The typical educational journey often starts with a student earning a community college degree and then moving on to a four-year institution. Now Barton Community College and Kansas State University have made it easier for students to transfer credits in the opposite direction, college officials announced.
The two schools have teamed up by signing a reverse transfer agreement that will allow students at KSU to seamlessly transfer credits to Barton with the goal of earning or completing an associate degree. Officials from both schools called this a progressive move, noting both schools wish to provide all students with an easy path to their educational goals, regardless of how traditional or non-traditional the paths may be.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for transfer students to easily transfer credits received from KSU, back to Barton to complete their associate degree,” Barton Vice President Dr. Penny Quinn said. “For example, I see wonderful benefits for students who began at Barton, but for whatever reason, transferred to KSU prior to completing their degree. Reverse transfer makes it easy for these students to have their completed Barton associate degree in hand, which is much more impressive as they complete job applications or develop their resume”
KSU Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students Pat Bosco views the agreement as another way to positively impact their students.
“Helping students meet their educational needs is a proud part of K-State’s heritage,” he said. “We’re thrilled that this agreement with Barton will allow even more students the opportunity to achieve their goals.”
