BCSO arrests rural burglary suspect

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Colby man suspected of stealing several thousand dollars worth of property from a rural residence, Sheriff Brian Bellendir said.
Jeremy Palmer was booked into the Barton County Jail last Friday on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property. On Wednesday he was also book on drug charges and two outstanding warrants from Thomas County He is being held without bond at this time.
Sheriff’s officers were called to the 300 block of NW 50 Ave. on Friday, Nov. 1.
“They were responding to a burglary at a private residence that had occurred earlier in the day,” Bellendir said. “Sheriff’s officers were informed that within the last few hours two TVs, including a 65-inch flatscreen, several radio controlled cars, DVD players and other items were taken from the residence.”
Sheriff’s detectives developed a lead in the case and located the property and the suspect, Palmer, in the 2600 block of  Gano St. in Great Bend. Over $6,000 in property was recovered.
Bellendir said the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are expected in the next several days.
