At 2 p.m. Wednesday, Barton County Sheriff’s officers executed a search warrant for illegal drugs at a storage building in the 1600 block of Jefferson Street in Great Bend.
Sheriff Brian Bellendir said the search warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation.
Detectives recovered more than 200 units of “a schedule IV prescription drug and other suspected controlled substances,” Bellendir said. “The structure was not occupied and no arrests were made at the scene. It is expected arrests or formal charges will be pursued in the near future.”
It was the second search warrant executed by the BSCO in Great Bend. At 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, officers searched a residence at 1014 1/2 Stone St. and arrested one man on drug charges.
Bellendir said more search warrants and arrests are expected. “This part of an ongoing investigation being pursued by Sheriff’s deputies and detectives. Information, leads and evidence will be pursued to the fullest possibility.”
Kansas Bureau of investigation agents assisted at the scene.
