ELLINWOOD – Long-time Ellinwood resident, Terry Brown, has been named as grand marshal of the After Harvest Festival. He is a long-time member of the Ellinwood Rotary Club and has been in charge of the AHF parade for many years.
“I’ve been in charge of the parade since 1990 with the assistance of Joan Drees who is very friendly and very organized,” said Brown. The After Harvest Parade usually has 90-110 entries with more during  election years.
“When the parade moves, most of us are working,” said Brown. “It’s a project that involves every rotary member.”
He praised the cooperation he gets from the City of Ellinwood and the sheriff’s office for the parade.
“RC is a nice service organization,” said Brown. “We’re very active with different projects.”
The club built the fish pond at Wolf Park and provided supplies for the daycare. They’ve purchased shelter boxes for a natural disaster, as well as the international projects of the Rotary Club such as the polio vaccination project in third world countries.
“Terry is instrumental in the philantropic side of Ellinwood,” said Richard Kimple, Rotary Club member. “He has been involved with Rotary for many years. It seemed appropriate he’d be recognized.
“He is an active and viable member of the community,” said Kimple. “He’s quiet, but he takes care of business.”
Brown has also been active in the corporate world. He started working for  Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball in 1970.
Brown graduated from K-State with a degree in Business Administration.
Brown grew up on the dairy farm started by his great-grandfather outside of Ellinwood.  The family still lives there.
Perhaps paying the highest compliment, his wife Ann also expressed admiration. She said, “His greatest strength is caring for everybody, and how he touches everybody. He’s very generous and everybody likes him.”
In his spare time, Brown likes to golf, ride horses, go to Colorado and go four-wheeling. He also likes to raft Brown’s Canyon, and hike. He and his wife Ann have two children that live in the area. They have three grandchildren plus a dog. The dog is a white schnauzer that goes everywhere with the Browns.
It is also a special year for the Browns. They just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
