Two Great Bend residents were arrested Friday morning after Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed four search warrants, Sheriff Brian Bellendir said.
Beginning at about 10:31 a.m., sheriff’s officers visited various locations in Great Bend. The focus of the warrants was at the address of 340 Heizer St. in the city of Great Bend.
Bellendir said the Sheriff’s Office had obtained a search warrant to allow for recovery of stolen property. Upon entering the residence Sheriff’s officers observed drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs in plain view. Another search warrant was obtained for the drugs and a search was conducted at the residence.
At the Heizer Street address sheriff’s deputies found crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and recovered nearly $4,000 in stolen property.
Arrested at the scene were Ashley D. Immediato,  26, of Great Bend and Reynaldo J. (Spanky) Verduzco, 23, also a Great Bend. Both subjects have been booked in the Barton County jail on charges of possession of drugs with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen property. Bond has been set for both at $100,000 each.
Also recovered were several firearms one of which was a sawed-off shotgun. The weapon had been cut off shorter than allowable by law, charges are pending on the firearms related issues.
In the process of executing the warrant officers obtained the whereabouts of a pickup truck owned by Shawn Satterfield. Satterfield had been the focus of a search warrant on Tuesday, and had been assessed over $20,000 in drug taxes by the Kansas Department of Revenue. The vehicle was seized in the 900 block of Elm, a search warrant was obtained and the vehicle was impounded. The vehicle is being held in lieu of payment of the $20,000 assessment.
“This is been a very busy week for the Sheriff’s office,” Bellendir said. “We have obtained and served more than seven search warrants made several arrests and confiscated sizable quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana. We recovered stolen property, firearms and drug paraphernalia. It is our intent to continue to follow the leads  that we have,  and continue our investigation.”
This is the third time this week sheriff’s officers have served warrants.
The sheriff said the public has been of great assistance and, as always, he urges anyone with information to contact the Barton County Sheriff’s office or Crimestoppers.
Through this entire investigation the Sheriff’s office has been supported by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and its agents.
