Drivers injured after sliding off area highways

Another Barton County injury accident was reported by the Kansas Highway Patrol at 9:97 a.m. Thursday, when a 1998 Ford pickup slid into a ditch 1 mile east of Ellinwood on U.S. 56 and struck a Hesston swather that was legally parked.

The driver was Kevin Lynn Beagley, 45, of Lyons. He sustained possible injury and was taken to Ellinwood District Hospital. He was wearing a seat belt. Passenger Frederick Allen Bannon, 55, also of Lyons, was taken to the same hospital with undetermined injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.


KHP responded to an injury accident in Ellsworth County at 10:22 a.m., 10 miles north of Ellsworth on Interstate 70. A 2003 Jeep Liberty was westbound and changing from the right lane to the left lane when the driver lost control. The Jeep entered the north ditch and struck a tree. Driver Tessa Eve Zee, 18, from Erie, Colo., was taken to the Ellsworth County Medical Center with undetermined injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
