A metal building where fittings are produced at Little Giant Fitting Co. Inc., 11 NE 50 Ave., was damaged by fire Monday morning.
Great Bend Fire Department estimated damage to the building and contents at more than $1 million. An investigator from the Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office could not determine the cause but the fire was not considered suspicious.
A motorist on U.S. 56 saw black smoke and called 911 at 7:16 a.m. Firefighters were at the scene by 7:28 and were there until around 10 a.m. There was heavy smoke and heat damage throughout the building, and major damage to the south end of the building and to the equipment inside.
