A Great Bend man told police he was hit by a car around 10 p.m. Wednesday. The driver never stopped, according to the victim, 20-year-old Noe Chavez.
Police were contacted about 90 minutes later, after Chavez decided he should go to the Emergency Room at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Sgt. Gary Davis said. He told officers he was walking south on Morphy St. crossing Eighth St. when he was struck by a white, four-door passenger car that was going west on Eighth and turned onto Morphy. He said the car may have been a Pontiac or Buick.
Chavez went to the ER with leg pain. His injuries were minor and he was treated and released.
Sgt. Davis said the driver was aware he had hit someone, according to Chavez’s statement, because Chavez went up on the hood. He’s hoping the driver will do the right thing and contact the police, and anyone with information is asked to call the GBPD, 620-793-4120.
