HUDSON — The Hudson community in Stafford County will hold its annual Chicken Ride, Turkey Trot or Not, and Ham & Jam this Saturday, Aug. 2.
Saturday also marks the beginning of a two-day celebration of the 100th anniversary of Evangelische Dreieingkeits Kirche, better known today as Trinity Community Church.
Saturday’s events start at the Hudson Community Hall. Registration for the Chicken Ride, a bicycle ride followed by a catered chicken dinner, opens at 6:30 a.m., and the ride begins at 7.
The Turkey Trot or Not is a K5/2 mile fun run or walk. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and the event begins at 8.
Ham & Jam is a pork meal from 5-7 p.m. in the Hudson Community Hall (admission charged) followed by music in the City Park starting at 6:30 p.m. The featured musician, Roger Cooper, will perform at 8 p.m. Spectators should bring their own lawn chairs.
There will also be children’s games at City Park from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. After that, activities will move to Trinity Community Church, for a free ice cream social and an open house, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Church centennial
The Evangelische Dreieingkeits Kirche was built in 1914.
Saturday’s open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m. will include the ice cream social, PowerPoint pictorial history presentation and dedication of a Pastor’s Wall. Visitors are invited to reminisce at the Memory Table and tour the church and parsonage. Elevator assistance is available if needed.
Post cards will be available for memories to be written down and placed in a time capsule for future celebrations to discover and read.
On Sunday, Aug. 3, all are welcome to come and enjoy a time of fellowship and conversation in the Trinity Community Church Substory, where donuts and coffee will be available from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. will include musicians and pastors. A congregational group picture will be taken. Nursery and Sunday School are available during the morning service.
At noon those who have reservations will share a celebration meal at Hudson Community Hall, catered by the Wheatland Cafe. There will again be a pictorial history presentation, pastor’s moments, children’s games and a time to sit and visit.
The Trinity Cemetery & Resource Building will be open from 3-4 p.m. both days.
