Dana Long shovels the snow from the sidewalk outside her shop, Completely Kids, Friday afternoon. Getting to it early was better than letting it turn to a sheet of ice, she said. Many in the area were coping with the first winter storm of the year as they got ready to celebrate New Years. The weather forecast calls for more sun with temperatures easing into the 30s Sunday and into next week.
