ELLINWOOD — A national retail store is coming to Ellinwood, the city has announced. A closing date on the sale of property has been set for Nov. 6.
While the store was not named, it will be a retail store, said Ellinwood City Administrator Robert Peter.
It will be located east of the city shop on Santa Fe in Ellinwood.
At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the city council heard that work will begin on Nov. 3 on the drainage ditch to the river. City and county crews will clear the ditch of debris. Peter anticipated it would take one week to ten days.
Trees and shrubs have grown and the ditch needs to be cleared to improve drainage.
The city is continuing to work on flood control issues with EBH engineering firm.
Patrons were present with concerns about electrical rates they thought were too high. Peter explained how the rates are calculated.
In final business, the council:
•Heard a report from Mel Waite and Kyle Chamberlin on Ellinwood Recreation.
•Heard a report on plans by the Kansas Department of Transportation for upgrades to the highway.
•Discussed cyber security.
