Preliminary hearing set for Gleason

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for December for a man accused of multiple charges in connection with a shoot-out near Gypsum with a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper that occurred after he allegedly robbed a bank in Chase.
Jason M. Gleason, 31, of Lyons, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 5 in Saline County District Court.
Gleason is accused of attempting to kill KHP trooper Ryan Wolting, Chrystal Bell and three children of unknown age on Oct. 9. Bell and the children were allegedly in the sport utility vehicle with Gleason when the shoot-out occurred. Gleason is being held in Saline County Jail on $1 million bond.
Gleason is charged with attempted first-degree murder for allegedly shooting at Wolting after crashing his sport utility vehicle following a chase in southeastern Saline County, near Gypsum. One of the shots hit Wolting’s patrol car, shattering a window. Wolting was injured by flying glass and returned fire.
He is also charged with four counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of kidnapping.
