The 15th annual Santa’s Workshop event will take place Monday evening at the City Auditorium.

Great Bend High School students, other community volunteers and the Great Bend Recreation Commission staff will transform the auditorium into Santa’s Workshop, a beehive of holiday activity from 6-8 p.m. Admission is free, as are the refreshments and activities designed for children from preschool age through sixth grade. It’s also open to family members and all who are young at heart, said Garet Fitzpatrick, GBRC program coordinator. Everyone is asked to enter through the doors located on the south side of the auditorium.

"Children can proceed to any or all the fun booths for food, craft activities and candy treats," Fitzpatrick said. "Santa Claus will make his appearance. Free popcorn, candy, prizes and balloons will await everyone."

Students from the GBHS Presidents Club, Student Council, National Honor Society, World Language Club, DECA, Kays and Kayettes, FBLA, FFA, FEA, Pep Club, Theater Club, Art Club, and representatives from the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes will be helping with this event. The Middle School Jazz Band and El Sol Mexican Folk Dancers will perform.

A mini Santa’s Workshop designed for preschoolers will take place in the Burnside Room of the Recreation Center. This is a quieter, less intense event provided by Parents As Teachers, Parent Teacher Resource Center (PTRC), BCC Phi Theta Kappa and Great Bend Public Library Children’s Department. For this event, enter through the northeast door of the Burnside Room, on the west side of Recreation Center.

A number of businesses have also donated to this event.
