Sheriff's Office adds Offender Watch to websites

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office has purchased “Offender Watch” software to enhance its website and Facebook page.
Sheriff Brian Bellendir said the software aids the general public and law enforcement in locating and tracking registered offenders.
“Information from local records as well as data from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is entered into the database and made available to the public,” Bellendir said. “With this software residents are able to locate offenders in their neighborhoods and receive email alerts and updates about registered offenders in their area. The software is interactive and all areas of Barton County may be searched.
“The Sheriff’s office will continue with its program of actively contacting offenders and ensuring they are compliant with the conditions that pertain to their case,” Bellendir continued. “If a member of the public determines there is a noncompliant offender they may also anonymously contact the sheriff’s office through the software.”
Offender Watch can be found on the Barton County website under the tab for the Sheriff’s Office; click on the administration tab, and look on the right side of the page for a link for “registered offender search.” A link to the BCSO Facebook page is also on the Sheriff’s Office page of the county website.
