Commission honors employees for longevity

The county employees honored for longevity by the Barton County Commission represented 270 collective years of service to the county. Recognized were folks who have had continuous employment for five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 35 years.
“That’s quite an accomplishment for anyone in any business,” Commission Chairman Kenny Schremmer said. His experience working for the county has been made a rewarding one  thanks to the fine people with whom he is associated.

In other business Monday morning, the commission:
• Approved renewing the membership in the Kansas County Commissioners Association for 2015 at a cost of $607.50. Tied closely to the Kansas Association of Counties, this organization is comprised of the commissioners serving the 105 counties in Kansas. Education, training, partnering and seeking strategic alliances that benefit the interests of county government and its citizens are its core goals.
