A month-long celebration of Great Bend’s Central Baptist Church quasquicentennial (125 years) culminated with a celebration held April 21-22 at the church, which has been located at Lakin and Harrison streets since 1964.
Nita Mohr from the quasquicentennial committee said many members of the congregation wore old-time clothes to the Sunday service. Virginia Sharp wore her great-grandmother’s outfit.
“We had a wonderful weekend with over 100  people on Saturday night and on Sunday morning,” Mohr said. “It was so inspiring watching people who had been in the church as kids meeting other people who they have lost contact with.” Highlights included a video of past and present members and what they had done in the church. There was also a video of the church, including the former Baker Ave. building, which  is now the Church of God at Baker and Lakin.
