ELLINWOOD — The Memory Makers scrapbooking group will host a two-day scrapping event beginning today at noon at First Baptist Church, located at 503 A SE 110 Ave. in rural Ellinwood. The event will continue today until midnight and will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday, continuing to 9 p.m. Admission is free, but participants are asked to bring a snack to share, said Pam Hendricks with the church. No reservation is needed.
Meals will be provided and there will be some giveaways, including a Creative Memories album and other Creative Memories product.
Participants are invited to spend some time catching up with last summer’s vacation pictures or recent graduations by creating scrapbook pages.
“Memory Makers was organized several years ago by a group of ladies from our church as an outreach to the ladies of the community,” Hendricks said. “The goal is to be intentional about building relationships with the ladies who come and to hopefully share God’s love and saving grace with them. They strive to offer a setting where were God’s love can be felt and ladies can be ministered to, whether that be praying together, encouraging one another, a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on.”
The rural location of the church, five miles south of Ellinwood, had appealed to some people who might not feel “comfortable” with coming to church, Hendricks said. The group’s regular meetings are from 5 p.m. to midnight on the second Friday of each month.
