First Christian Church of Great Bend is hosting its annual church garage sale this Saturday. Doors will open at 8 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Youth and Children’s Ministries of FCC.

Christian Education Director Kelli Frazier said there are lots of big ticket items in this year’s sale: baby items, kids items, sporting equipment, electronics and furniture. "Four rooms are stuffed full of great deals!"

"Fundraisers like this help First Christian Church raise money for free community events such as Vacation Bible School. We host a free VBS each summer for all local children from pre-school to 5th grade. Each night at VBS a free dinner is provided for families. Last year we hosted over 100 children at VBS, and fed up to 185 people each night. This year’s VBS will be June 12-16."

The garage sale also helps raise funds for the church’s annual youth mission trips for students in grades 6-12. In 2009 and 2010 First Christian Church did mission work in San Antonio, Texas, and Tulsa, Okla., helping low-income and underprivileged areas grow their own local ministries. This year the youth ministry team plans to travel to Nashville, Tenn., to help aid in flood devastation and community needs.
