Spring planting is in progress for the garden in the yard of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 3400 21st St., Great Bend. This is the third year for the garden located on the north side of the church.
Mary Ann June with First Congregational UCC said the garden areas are designated for public or private gardens. Where designated public, anyone may pick from that area when the vegetables are ready. Private gardens are for individuals who have signed up to weed and take care of that area.
The church has several 10-by-5-foot spaces still available for individuals. If interested in signing up for an area, call the church office, 792-5346, between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Regular watering has begun already.
