New teachers at Great Bend USD 428 met at the District Education Center on Thursday for training with Assistant Superintendent John Popp. This year there are 27 new teachers.
Three more teacher appointments were approved when the school board met that morning:
Molly Burger will teach fourth grade at Jefferson Elementary School; Courtney True will teach math at Great Bend High School and Andrea (Willesden) Ingram will teach sixth grade at Eisenhower Elementary School.
Administrators said all but three teaching positions have been filled for the 2017-2018 school year. The district is still searching for an elementary teacher for Eisenhower School, an early childhood teacher and a high school drafting teacher. Long-term substitutes will cover those positions for the fall semester. In the spring there may be student teachers or other options.
