Great Bend Tree Board announces 2019 Trick or Tree photo contest

The Great Bend Tree Board held its annual Trick or Tree photo contest recently and awarded $50 Great Bend Chamber of Commerce gift certificates to three winners:

• Biggest Tree - Logan Evers

• Most Beautiful Fall Colors - Shawna Zimmerman

• Shutterbug Photography - Penny Jones

The biggest tree, submitted by Evers, has a circumference of 14 feet 10 inches. It is located a couple of miles northwest of Great Bend.

Zimmerman submitted two photos, one of a tree at Forest and Monroe and one located on Forest Ave.

Jones’s entries included a gorgeous tree located on the east side of Veterans Lake. She said it is one of the tallest in that group of trees. She also submitted a photo of a swan at the edge of Vets Lake. Behind it is a tree that is partially in the water due to this year’s flood, and trees can be seen on the opposite shore. The trees’ reflections on the water add to the artistry of the photo.

In her entry for “fall colors,” Jones also included a photo of a tree on the lake at sunset.

“This is also at Vets Lake and this is one of my favorite spots to take sunset pictures,” Jones wrote.
