A report of fire Friday at 12:36 at 88 NE 200 Road in Hoisington was answered by the Hoisington Fire Department. Hoisington Fire Chief Jerry Stricker noted that the fire, which turned out to be a pickup engine fire, was extinguished prior to the HFD’s arrival.

A report of a fire last Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 11:13 p.m. at the Albro Housing Complex in Claflin, 602 Albro, was answered by the Claflin Fire Department. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke but no fire burning, with no damage reported.

A fire report Friday at Larned State Hospital turned out to be a frozen and broken pipe, according to the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office, which assisted the Larned Fire Department. The call for the PCSO assist was received at 5:47 a.m. The pipe burst triggered the fire alarm, the PCSO noted. Investigation is still ongoing.
