At least two Great Bend businesses or individuals have received telephone calls from someone claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service in recent days. These were reported to the police department as fraud, although the reporting parties did not fall for the scam or lose any money.
Employees at Sears of Great Bend contacted police Friday morning, and someone at the Holiday Apartments contact police that afternoon.
