Barton County Sheriff

Dale Suppes was injured after swerving to miss a deer early Thursday, between Great Bend and Ellinwood. He was driving east on U.S. 56 at 1:34 a.m., and left the roadway near NE 60 Ave. His vehicle entered the north ditch and rolled one and a half times, coming to rest on its roof. Suppes was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital via Ellinwood ambulance.

Someone drove by and hit a mailbox at 5900 Anchor Way, Great Bend, two times, it was reported Wednesday morning.

Criminal damage to a building at 677 SE 50 Road that allegedly occurred around Aug. 3 was reported Wednesday. Someone damaged the garage door and took light bulbs and copper.

 

Great Bend Police

Theft of a skid steer loader and trailer from the parking lot at 701 Harrison St. was reported Wednesday. Loss was $38,000.

Brian Berends was driving west in the 1800 block of 10th St. at 10:43 a.m. Wednesday and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Steven Panek that was slowing in traffic.

Someone spray painted a vinyl fence at 607 Holland St., it was reported Wednesday.

Erin Sullivan was driving north across 19th St. on Morton at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday and struck a metal rail. He was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Barbara Sawyer was driving north in an alley off Third Street and struck a utility pole, at 1:24 p.m. Wednesday.

An alleged burglary and theft at 1900 Lincoln St. was reported Wednesday. Loss was $1,000, with additional money later reported missing.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle at an unknown location, it was reported Wednesday.

Theft of a mini bike from 2521 12th St. was reported at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. The bike had been collected earlier as found property and was released to the reporting party.
