Two killed in Ellsworth County collision
The drivers of two vehicles were killed Saturday in a collision in Ellsworth County.
Charles Bone, 52, from Loraine, and Andrew Child, 35, from Valley Center, died when their vehicles collided at the intersection of Ninth Road and Ave. X, two miles north of K-4.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Bone was driving a pickup and Child was driving a Trailblazer when they collided. Both vehicles rolled, coming to rest in a field. Bone was not wearing a safety restraint; Child was.
Paint thinner thrown on vehicles
Paint thinner was thrown on three vehicles at 2416 Gano St., it was reported Friday. The owner estimated total damage at $15,000. Great Bend Police Department is investigating.
More broken windows reported
Someone broke a window on a minivan at 714 Morphy St. in Great Bend, it was reported Friday evening.
Damage to windows on vehicles at 1201 Morton St., 2200 12th St., 1411 Broadway Ave. and 1443 Broadway Ave. was reported Saturday.
Police have received possible information on the subjects shooting out windows.
Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made nine ambulance runs on Friday, eight on Saturday and four on Sunday.
They performed a carbon monoxide check at 1705 Main on Saturday afternoon, but determined that the odor that prompted the call was coming from the sewer, where new lines are being installed.
The fire department was called to assist Pawnee Rock Fire Department with a field fire at SW 90 Ave. and SW 20 Road at 3:31 p.m. Saturday, but was sent back before arrival. Other reports show wheat stubble was set on fire by someone throwing a cigarette out of a window; no structures were threatened.
 Great Bend Police
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the 400 block of Cedar St., it was reported Sunday.
A vehicular burglary at 3120 10th St. was reported Saturday. A radar detector was taken.
A motorist was southbound on Frey St. near 10th at 6:45 p.m. Saturday and reportedly ran over a pedestrian’s right foot. The driver left the scene and the pedestrian refused any treatment.
Theft of a Honda moped from 914 Stone St. was reported Friday. Loss was $400.
A vehicle was backing westbound in the 3400 block of Meadowlark St. at 10:15 a.m. Friday and struck a fence and house.
A burglary at 210 Fruit St. was reported Friday. Someone allegedly broke in and stole medication, cash and other items.
Vehicles driven by Angela Tobish and Kimberly Miller collided at Forest and Adams at 5:05 p.m. Friday.
Vehicles driven by Patrica Reiser and Tiffany Fort collided at 24th and Morton St. at 6:03 p.m. Friday.
Theft of an iPod from 217 Chestnut St. was reported Friday night.
A party in the 3400 block of 18th St. was broken up at 12:38 a.m. Saturday after loud music was reported. An officer issued several citations for minor in possession and hosting a party. Several items were collected as found property.
Barton County Sheriff
Damage to bridge signs at NW 30 Ave. and NW 30 Road, possibly from a shotgun blast, was reported Friday.
Damage to the sign on the south side of the Ellinwood bridge at SE 20 Road and SE 120 Ave. was reported Saturday. It appeared someone hit the “right lane closed ahead” sign. Kansas Highway Patrol handled the call.
A 21-year-old transient picked up Friday in Rush County was dropped off in Albert. The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reported he has warrants out of Oregon for parole violation on rape, and a warrant on strong armed robbery, but that Oregon will not extradite. The BCSO contacted Ellsworth County and advised them of the situation; the man was taken to the Barton/Ellsworth County line. He was reportedly headed to the Interstate so he could go to family in Missouri.
Illegal use of a financial card was reported by a Barton County resident on Saturday. Items were charged to the card at a motel and online, with charges totaling more than $1,000.
Theft of anhydrous ammonia from the Galatia Co-op was reported at 2:48 a.m. Monday.
