TOPEKA — A California man was indicted Wednesday on a federal drug charge for a crime that was alleged to have occurred on Oct. 17, 2019, in Ellsworth County. Adrian Vargas-Ramirez, 38, of Paramount, California, is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister. If convicted, the defendant could face a sentence of not less than 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $10 million. The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated. Special U.S. Attorney Lindsey Debenham is prosecuting.
