The cause of a fire that destroyed a mobile home last Friday, Sept. 25, at 816 Pine Place is still under investigation by the Great Bend Police Department and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office, Great Bend Fire Chief Luke McCormick said Wednesday. The home was a total loss, with damages in excess of $10,000, but no injuries were reported.

Firefighters were dispatched at 1:54 a.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the back of the home. The occupant was outside.
