April 13
An officer responded to the 300 block of 3rd Street in reference to a prowler call. Officer was unable to locate anyone in the area.
April 14
An officer responded to the 100 block of 8th Street in reference to a civil dispute. Investigation revealed no assault had occurred. No case
April 17
An officer responded to the high school in reference a talk to officer call. An unruly juvenile was later taken into custody as a child in need of care and taken to Juvenile Intake.
April 18
An officer responded to assist the Barton County Sheriff with a pursuit of a possible suicidal subject. Vehicle finally stopped in Russell County.
An officer responded to the 400 Block of Main Street in reference to found property. The property was returned to the owner.
April 19
An officer responded to the 200 block of Albro in reference to solicitors. Solicitors contacted and told to stop until they got a city permit to sell.
An officer responded to the 500 block of Third Street in reference to a civil dispute. The male part of the argument left the residence. No case.
An officer met with the suspects of the above prowler call in the 200 block of D Street. No case at this time. Suspects were Juveniles playing games.
An officer responded to the city park in reference to a found cell phone. The phone was returned to the owner.
April 20
An officer responded to Andover to pick up the juvenile from the high school incident and transport him to District Court.
April 23
An officer took a loud noise complaint while at the police department. The complaint was loud noise coming from a residence in the 300 block of Second. The resident was later contacted and given a copy of the city’s noise ordinance and told to keep the music down.
April 25
An officer provided a funeral escort from the Catholic Church to the Claflin Cemetery.
April 27
An officer responded to the 100 block of West Williamson in reference to a possible protection order out of Oklahoma being violated. It was determined that the order had not been served to the individual. The individual had left on foot prior to the officer’s arrival. He was later located by a Sheriff’s deputy out in the county. He was transported to Great Bend.
April 28
An officer responded to the high school for an alarm call. The building was checked and found to be OK.
April 30
An officer responded to the 500 block of 3rd Street in reference to a domestic battery and criminal damage case. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Barton County Jail. A sawed off shotgun was taken from the residence. Charges were filed in the Claflin Municipal Court.
May 3
An officer responded to a juvenile complaint on the school bus in the 300 block of Main Street. The bus video was watched by the school and the officer. It was determined that the school would take care of the problem.
An officer responded to the 100 block of East Hamilton in reference to an injured owl call. The owl was caught and taken to the Raptor Recovery Center in Great Bend.
May 4
An officer responder to the 300 block of West Park Street in reference to a dog bite case. It was determined the bite occurred in the 100 block of east front street. A case was taken and the Barton County Health Department was notified.
May 9
An officer responded to the 100 block of east Front Street in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Damage was minor. Insurance information was exchanged.
May 10
Two officers from the Claflin Police Department and the Barton County Sheriff’s K9 deputy responded to the high school and performed a drug check of the lockers. All lockers were checked by the K9. The K9 did not indicate on any of the lockers.

Public Nuisance cases:
April 24
300 block A Street. The owner of residence was contacted and advised to remove the tires from the yard and was advised of the cities minimum housing code.
200 block of 3rd Street. The owner of an abandon vehicle was contacted. Owner took care of the problem.
May 1
300 block of 7th Street. A certified letter was sent to the home owner, who now lives in Great Bend, Lawn issues and structure issues.
200 block of 7th Street. A certified letter was sent to the home owner in Arkansas in reference to the yard and structure issues.
100 block East Park. A certified letter was sent to the owner in Bushton in reference to the yard and structure issues.
400 block 2nd Street. A certified letter was sent to the home owner in Goddard in reference to yard issues.
May 7
500 block 2nd Street. A certified letter was sent to the owner in Clay Center in reference to yard issues.
300 block East Williamson. The person that mows the property was contacted and he advised he would get it mowed.
500 block 2nd Street. A letter was served by personal service to the home owner in reference to yard issues.
400 block Main Street. A letter was served by personal service to the home owner in reference to yard, structures, and abandon vehicle issues.
May 8
200 Block D Street. A phone call was made to the owner in Hoisington in reference to the yard. The owner advised he would get his tenant to keep the property mowed.
400 block 2nd Street. The home owner (who is experiencing health issues) was contacted in reference his yard. He advised he would get someone to mow.
