July 6
An officer responded to the high school in reference to an alarm call. It was determined that the alarm was accidentally set of by the football team.
An officer responded to a citizen complaint of a dog at large in the 100 block of West Hamilton. The dog was located with no tags for identification; the dog was taken to the Humane Society.
July 10
An officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of C Street in reference to an American Bully at the residence. The resident was advised of the ordinance against Stafford Shire Terrier mix dogs. The dog was removed from town.
An officer was contacted by a citizen in reference to suspicious activity in Russell County. The information was passed on to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office.
An officer responded to the 200 block of 5th Street in reference to a check welfare report. The occupant was contacted and found to be OK.
July 12
An officer responded to the 400 block of West Williamson in reference to an ambulance assist.
An officer responded to 6th and Williamson in reference to unlicensed solicitors. They were told to stop soliciting until they got city permits.
July 14
An officer responded to the 200 block of 8th Street in reference to an unruly party complaint. The occupants of the residence were warned to keep the noise and outside activity calmed down.
July 17
An officer while on active patrol in the 200 block of C Street found a pistol on the street. The pistol was checked through the national crime information center and was found to be not stolen. The pistol was booked into the evidence locker as found property.
July 18
An officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of 3rd Street in reference to a citizen assist. The occupant had locked herself out of her residence. A storm window was removed to gain entry to the residence.
An officer responded to the 400 block of West Williamson to assist a citizen with keys locked inside a running vehicle. Entry was gained by the officer.
July 23
An officer responded to the 200 block of 8th Street in reference to an auto burglary and criminal damage report. A criminal case was taken.
An officer responded to the police department in reference to an auto burglary report. The victim advised he had parked his vehicle at a residence in the 200 block of 8th Street for four days and when he returned he had cash missing from the console. A criminal case was taken.
July 24
An officer responded to the high school in reference to an alarm call. It was accidentally set of by the football team in the weight room.
July 25
An officer responded to the 400 block of Second Street in reference to an ambulance assist.
An officer provided a funeral escort from the Methodist Church to the Claflin Cemetery.
An office responded to the 600 block of Albro in reference to a welfare check. The occupant was located and found to be OK.
July 28
An officer responded to a 911 hang up call. It was determined that it was an accidental dial.
July 29
An officer responded to the 100 block of 4th Street in reference to a dog at large. The owner was located and the dog was returned to the owner.
July 30
An officer responded to the 500 block of 3rd Street in reference to an aggravated burglary in progress. The victim was contacted and advised the suspect had already exited the residence through the back door. The victim gave the name of the suspect but refused to give any other information and requested no prosecution. The suspect was later located and arrested on outstanding warrants out of the Clafin Municipal Court and Ellis County District Court.
Aug. 3
An officer responded to the 300 block of West Park Street in reference to a 911 open line. It was determined that juveniles were playing with a deactivated phone. They were advised to not call 911 unless there is an emergency.
Aug. 5
An officer responded to the 200 block of Front Street in reference to suspicious persons at the Claflin Convenience Store. It was determined that the suspicious persons were transients in route to California. All three were checked for criminal history and warrants. They were transported to the Russell County line where a Russell County Deputy transported them to Russell.
An officer responded to the 300 Block of 3rd Street in reference to illegal placing of tree branches and debris onto the roadway. The city workers removed the debris from the roadway.
Aug. 7
An officer responded to the 100 block of West Williamson for an ambulance assist.
Public Nuisance Complaints
July 6
300 block of 7th Street grass complaint. Owner contacted and grass mowed.
200 block of 7th Street grass complaint. Yard mowed by the city. Bill for $450 sent to the owner in Arkansas.
600 block of West Front grass complaint. Maintenance man contacted and grass was mowed.
July 9
100 block 5th Street tall grass and over grown trees. Family members of the owner were contacted and the trees and lawn were cleaned up.
100 block of 9th Street tall grass complaint. The owner was contacted and the yard has been mowed.
July 29
200 block of 8th Street tall grass and bind weed complaint. The owner was contacted and the yard has been mowed.
Aug. 6
500 block of 2nd Street grass, downed branches and weed complaint. The owner was contacted and told to get the lawn mowed and cleaned up. He was going to contact someone to get it mowed or he will be in town on Aug. 11.
