Gary W. Parr, 50, owner of Parr Sound & Lighting, is not the Gary Parr listed in On the Record in Thursday’s Great Bend Tribune. While both men live in Great Bend, the person arrested this week is Gary D. Parr, who is 45 years old, according to jail records.

Gary W. Parr, who stopped by the Tribune to show his driver’s license, said he received numerous phone calls after the other man’s name was published. "The fallout has been unbelievable," he said.

While it doesn’t happen often, it isn’t unusual for two people in this area to have similar names and for one of them to appear in On the Record. In fact, this has happened to Tribune employees and their family members. The Tribune attempts to clarify identity in such cases by including a middle initial and other indicators, such as age, the city the person lives in and other qualifiers, such as "Junior" or "Senior."
