Colorado woman killed in Ford County crash

Sherry S. McKinnon of Foxfield, Colo., was killed Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision on U.S. 283 in Ford County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2014 Toyota Sienna, driven by Russell A. Larger, 58, of Chula, Ga., was traveling northbound around 1 p.m. at milepost 41, about nine miles south of the U.S. 56 junction, when he drove left of center and collided with a 2005 Chevy Suburban driven by McKinnon, 73. McKinnon’s Suburban rolled and came to rest in the west ditch, while the Sienna driven by Larger came to rest in the roadway.

Both drivers were transported to Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, where McKinnon was pronounced dead. Larger only suffered suspected minor injuries in the crash.

Neither driver was carrying passengers at the time of the crash, and both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
