Barton County Sheriff

A motorist hit a deer with a Ford Escape at 12:54 a.m. Friday at SE 20 Road and SE 105 Ave.

Janice Hamby struck a deer in the 400 block of U.S. 281 at 6:20 p.m. Friday. She complained of head and neck injuries and was transported to Central Kansas Medical Center by Great Bend Fire Department Ambulance.

A Ford F-10 hit a deer in the 600 block of west K-4 at 6:32 p.m. Friday.

A motorist hit a deer in the 300 block of North Washington St. at 7 p.m. Friday. She complained of wrist pain and the ambulance responded, but the driver later said she was not hurt.

Todd White was arrested for aggravated battery and criminal threat after allegedly punching a male in the face in the 300 block of North Washington. The incident was reported from the CKMC Emergency Room at 9:30 p.m. Friday. White, of Great Bend, was booked into the Barton County Jail with bond set at $20,000.

A $10.01 gas skip at Casey’s Carry Out Pizza, 1315 10th St., Great Bend, was reported at 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

Officers responded to West Barton County Road at SW 40 Ave. at 1 a.m. Sunday to assist the Kansas Highway Patrol that had five under-18 minors in possession of alcohol. BCSO transported three juveniles to jail for the KHP.

A stolen license plate from 2209 25th St. was reported Sunday.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made four ambulance runs on Friday, nine on Saturday and four on Sunday.

 

Other fire departments

Communications reported smoke east and north of Beaver at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Dispatch advised the fire was in Ellsworth County and the county fire department was already on scene.

A fire at 1251 SE 30 Road was started at 2 p.m. Friday by an individual who was welding. Ellinwood Fire Department responded.

A grass fire at 1313 NE 160 Ave. was reported at 1:17 p.m. Sunday. Claflin Fire Department responded. The reporting party said they were burning some straw in the back yard and it caught the grass on fire.

 

Great Bend Police

A $58.59 gas skip at 1315 10th St. was reported Friday.

Theft of a Dell laptop computer from 4908 10th St. was reported Friday. Loss was $520.

Several subjects were reportedly fighting at 705 10th St. at 12:36 a.m. Saturday. A lack of prosecution case was taken, and one male was arrested for possession of marijuana.

A male was served a notice to appear in municipal court after allegedly breaking the window out of a door at 3114 1/2 Lakin Ave.

Someone broke the window on the front door at 3216 Lakin Ave., it was reported early Saturday.

Corey Thomas was driving south on Frey and struck a vehicle driven by Christy Hamby, who was eastbound on 10th, at 11:12 a.m. Sunday. Hamby received minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.

An officer was dispatched to investigate a report of a sex offense at noon Sunday.
