Barton County Sheriff

A Great Bend police officer was in his patrol car, stopped at the stop sign at 10th and the U.S. 281 Bypass, when another vehicle rear-ended the car at 4:45 p.m. Monday. There was no damage to either driver or vehicle and no case was filed.

Daniel Immediato, 16, Great Bend, was driving a 1995 Ford Ranger in the 600 block of East Barton County Road at 7:22 a.m. Tuesday and locked the brakes when he saw a Jeep driven by Constance S. Watts, 57, coming out of a driveway. His vehicle skidded into the Jeep. Regan Moore, Immediator’s 7-year-old passenger, was taken to Ellinwood District Hospital by the Ellinwood Fire/EMS for possible injuries. The drivers said they were not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.

 

Great Bend Police

Police took two sex abuse cases from Social and Rehabilitation Services on Monday.

A local woman reported someone using her credit card to purchase items at Disneyland.

A $48.32 gas skip at 3620 10th St. was reported Monday.

Theft of pillows, blankets and other items from a room at 705 10th was reported Monday.

Theft of bottles of pop from 1221 10th St. was reported Monday.

After a woman reported being hit in the head with a metal fence post, Monday night at 309 Plum St., police arrested by Jon Kubitscheck and Judith Evans, who were booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of aggravated battery. Bond for each was set at $20,000.

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made seven ambulance runs on Monday and one fire response to the north Pizza Hut at 11:41, where they reported smoke in the building. A faulty furnace was found to be the cause.
