Great Bend Police

Pauline Mong was making a U-turn and struck a vehicle driven by Danyon Holden that was northbound on Kansas, at 9:04 a.m. Thursday.

A woman reported a forged check had been written on a closed account.

On Thursday a woman was served a notice to appear in municipal court for allegedly shoplifting items from Walmart.

Theft of a Blackberry cell phone from 1612 Morphy St. was reported Thursday.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the Walmart parking lot on Thursday.

A vehicular burglary at 4107 10th St. was reported Thursday. Someone took a handicap parking permit out of the vehicle.

A burglary at 2821 16th St. was reported Thursday. Someone entered the residence and items were stolen.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A truck that was hauling a pump unit with a chain rolled when the chain snapped, at 2:35 p.m. Thursday on Railroad Ave. and U.S. 56. Kansas Highway Patrol worked the accident and the sheriff’s office assisted with traffic control.

A vehicle hit a deer on SE 60 Ave. and SE 60 Road at 5:50 p.m. Thursday.

A vehicle hit a deer in the 400 block of SE 60 Ave. at 6:42 p.m. Thursday.

A van hit a deer on NE 50 Road and North U.S. 281 at 7:21 p.m. Thursday. KHP responded.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made one ambulance run on Thursday. There were no fires.

 

Kansas Highway Patrol

A car driven by Clyde Raymond Rice, 75, of Inman, was traveling northbound on 8th Ave in McPherson County at 8:58 a.m. Friday and failed to yield at a stop sign at U.S. 56, 5.7 miles west of the U.S. 81 bypass. A Peterbilt driven by Rex. L. Weirich, 56, of Great Bend, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 56. The car hit the tractor on the passenger side.

Rice was taken to Memorial Hospital with undetermined injuries; Weirich was not injured.
