Great Bend Police

The front door at 1521 Jefferson St. was reportedly forced open with a crowbar Tuesday night.

A male motorist was talking on the phone and didn’t see another vehicle’s turn signal, and pulled in front of it at 8 a.m. Wednesday on 17th St., resulting in an accident.

Terry Stueder was driving north in the 2600 block of Washington St. at 3:13 p.m. Wednesday and struck a vehicle driven by Kenzie SInclair that was stopped in traffic.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck the back of a vehicle in the 5500 block of Broadway Ave. and pushed it for half a black, it was reported Wednesday. The victim did not see the other vehicle but reported hearing the crash at 6:43 p.m.

Sloan Folk was driving south on Morton St. at 7:54 a.m. Thursday and collided with a vehicle driven by Albert Horner, which was westbound on Broadway.

A vehicle driven by Sarah Fox was exiting a private drive in the 3500 block of 10th St. at 6:46 p.m. Thursday and collided with a vehicle driven by Steven Bohannan, which was eastbound on 10th.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the 1200 block of Adams St.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A rape reportedly occurred Tuesday night at an unknown location out in the county.

A vehicle hit a deer on Bissell’s Point Road (NE 30 Road) at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday near K-156.

A vehicle hit a deer in the 200 block of east K-4 at 6:11 p.m. Wednesday.

Theft of a post hole digger from a shed at 1310 NE 130 Ave. was reported Thursday.

Theft of copper wire from utility poles at NE 60 Ave. and NE 210 Road was reported Thursday.

A female notified the sheriff’s office Thursday afternoon that her vehicle struck a deer on K-96 between Great Bend and Albert sometime Wednesday night.

A vehicle was westbound on U.S. 56 at Doonan’s Corner (U.S. 56/K-156 junction) at 8 p.m. Thursday and was hit by another vehicle.

A motorist was southbound on U.S. 281 north of the Galatia-Susank blacktop (NW 220 Road) shortly before 4:30 a.m. Thursday when a deer came out of the west ditch and struck her vehicle.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs on Tuesday and six on Wednesday.

At 8:34 p.m. Tuesday they responded to a report of power lines arching at 3701 Main. Then at 8:42 p.m. they received a report of a fire at 55 Becker Court. Chief Mike Napolitano said they found the occupant had started the wood burning stove and smelled smoke. Everything was working correctly.
