Great Bend Police

Two vehicles were involved in an accident in the 1400 block of Lakin Ave. at 8:13 a.m. Monday.

After an altercation at 917 Jefferson St. Monday morning, Richard Forrester, 29, reported Brian Gosney, 37, tired to hit him with a hammer. Forrester was arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail for battery, with bond set at $1,000. Gosney was booked on a charge of aggravated assault, with bond set at $40,000.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehcile at 2920 10th St., it was reported Monday.

Monday afternoon, a woman reported being battered by an unknown subject, who also broke the headlight on her vehicle, at 708 Coolidge St. Loss was $60.

A vehicle driven by Mallory Matek was northbound on McKinley St. at 3:14 p.m. Monday and struck a vehicle driven by Dee Duryee that was stopped in traffic at Broadway.

A fight in progress was reported at 11:21 p.m. in the 2200 block of 27th St. A 26-year-old female was arrested for disorderly conduct. A juvenile was also arrested.

 

Barton County Sheriff

Putting greens on the 16th hole at 673 North U.S. 281 were damaged by someone driving across them, it was reported Monday. The subjects also attempted to steal gas but the tank was empty.

A motorist was northbound on NE 10 Ave. at 2:12 p.m. Monday and attempted to pass another vehicle on the dirt road, but lost control and went into the ditch. The vehicle rolled onto its top but no one was injured.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs on Monday. They were dispatched to the baseball diamonds at 24th and Heizer at 5:29 p.m. for a reported small fire by the bathroom. Chief Mike Napolitano said there was no fire, but a small pile of burnt trash was noticed in the area.
