Deer carcass on I-70 causes accident

VICTORIA — An Ellinwood woman was taken to Hays Medical Center after the compact car she was driving hit a deer carcass, at 5:52 a.m. Friday on Interstate 70, 2 miles east of Victoria in Ellis County.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Hope M. Yeager, 22, was westbound on I-70 when she hit a deer carcass in the roadway, sideswiped a westbound semitrailer and overturned in the median. Yeager, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained possible injury.
The car was removed by 5 Star Amoco.
The driver of the 2014 Kenworth semitrailer, Patricia E.  Bussart, 48, of Salina, was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.
