Drivers transported following Monday afternoon collision on U.S. 281

Two area residents were transported to University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus with possible minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash south of Great Bend Monday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2010 Buick Lacrosse driven by 55-year old Angela Christine Hansen of Great Bend was traveling southbound on U.S. 281, and was stopped waiting to make a left turn onto SE 20 Road, about a mile and a half south of Great Bend. 

While stopped, Hansen’s vehicle was rear-ended by a 2008 Jeep Patriot driven by 17-year-old Kaylynn Machell Claussen of St. John.

Both Claussen and Hansen were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
