Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs Friday, five Saturday and three Sunday.

At 10:17 a.m. Friday they responded to a field fire at 200 South Washington, and at 8:16 p.m. they checked out a smoke smell at 101 Hickory St. There were two false alarms on Friday.

They responded to a grass fire at 670 West Barton County Road at 11:18 a.m. Saturday. The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports this was a controlled burn that got out of control. The fire department issued a ban on burning until the area gets more moisture.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday they were dispatched to a barn on fire at 49 NW 48 Road. The BCSO log shows the barn was not engulfed and damage was minimal.

Firefighters also responded for a carbon monoxide check at 3903 Forest Ave., at 2:42 p.m. Sunday.

 

Great Bend Police

A computer valued at $1,200 was stolen from a pickup at 1215 Cleveland St., it was reported Friday.

Brenda Uselton was backing a vehicle on 19th St. and struck a parked vehicle on Morton at 12:56 p.m. Friday.

Lillian Cochran was backing a vehicle in an alley at 1:12 p.m. Friday and struck a vehicle in the 2600 block of 23rd. The other driver then left the area.

A license tag was stolen from a vehicle in the 2500 block of 17th St., and another tag left in its place, it was reported Friday. The tag left behind had been reported stolen in Wichita.

A counterfeit $20 bill was reported Friday at 3600 10th St.

Someone shot a car with a pellet gun, Friday at 3503 10th St. Loss was $500.

A $58 gas skip at 1906 Main was reported at 12:33 p.m. Saturday. The suspect vehicle was a white SUV.

A cruelty to animals case was taken Saturday afternoon, at a house where deceased pets were found.

A vehicle hit a deer on East K-4 and NE 100 Ave. at 6 p.m. Sunday.
