Motorist injured in attempt to dodge deer

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports Suitlana Nixon, 41, was injured Wednesday morning after she swerved off SE 20 Road to avoid a deer. The accident occurred at 6:33 a.m. Nixon was approaching SE 30 Ave. in a Grand Am went her car went into a ditch and both air bags deployed. She was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters made six ambulance runs on Tuesday.

At 5:47 p.m. they responded to 5936 Eisenhower for a smoke smell, and at 9:33 p.m. responded to 1305 Wilson for a carbon monoxide check.

Great Bend Police

Tuesday reports:

A vehicle driven by Taylor Fry was eastbound on Broadway Ave. at 7:46 a.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Sheri Yager, who was westbound turning south onto Harrison St.

Someone cut a tire on a car at 5210 10th St. No. 26. Loss was $100.

A plaque valued at $6 was taken from a grave site at 5101 24th St.
