Barton County Sheriff’s Office
Scrap stainless steel and some aluminum in a 55 gallon barrel at 179 North U.S. 281 was reported stolen Thursday from Primus Sterilizers.
Great Bend Police
Thursday reports:
A postal worker reported being followed by three or four dogs in the 700 block of Holland St. at 10:39 a.m., and being unable to deliver the mail. Dogs were picked up by the humane society and a citation for dogs at large was issued.
Barbara Anspaugh sustained a fractured wrist when two vehicles collided at 11:26 a.m. on 10th Street. A vehicle driven by Albertina Frederick was pulling out of McDonald’s and struck Anspaugh’s vehicle as she was eastbound in the turning lane. Both Anspaugh and a passenger in the Frederick vehicle were taken to hospitals by private vehicles.
A driver backing from a stall at 1811 Main St. at 5:17 p.m. bumped a pedestrian, but no report was required as the pedestrian was not injured.
Police assisted the Kansas Bureau of Investigation in making an arrest at 319 Grapevine St. at 5:56 p.m.
Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made four ambulance runs on Thursday.
At 12:55 p.m. they responded to a possible structure fire at 2606 27th St. The first in crew found siding approximately 6 foot in length melted on the east side of the duplex. The occupants had extinguished the fire with buckets of water. Firefighters checked the area to ensure the fire was out. Damage was estimated at $500. The duplex is owned by MGM properties and the occupant is Morgan Cooper.
