The Great Bend Police Department announced Monday that officers made multiple drug-related arrests throughout the City of Great Bend over the past weekend.
• At approximately 3:21 p.m. Friday, a GBPD detective initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1700 block of U.S. 281 Bypass. K9 Menta was dispatched to the scene. After Menta indicated to the odor of narcotics, officers performed a search of the vehicle. The driver, 58-year-old Scott Morgan, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and no drug tax stamp.
• Shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, a GBPD officer initiated a traffic stop in the 2900 block of 10th Street. The officer detected the odor of suspected marijuana and conducted a search. Quantities of suspected cocaine, marijuana, marijuana wax, and psilocybin mushrooms were located in the vehicle. Dalton Bright, 23, was arrested and booked on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a hallucinogenic.
• Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Frey Street. K9 Menta, who was dispatched to the scene, indicated to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Officers then performed a search and 29-year-old Justin Fish was arrested and booked for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
• A short time later, at approximately 12:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of Eisenhower Avenue in reference to a suspicious person on a property, possibly using narcotics. Officers contacted the individual, identified as 36-year-old Jonathon Chappel, who was reportedly in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia.
Morgan, Fish and Bright all posted bond and were later released. Chappel remained confined as of Tuesday morning.
