GBPD officers make arrests for possession of marijuana

The Great Bend Police Department made several arrests for possession of marijuana and other charges at the start of the new year.

Garrett Scott Buckbee was arrested on an outstanding warrant for probation violation at 12:24 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, in the 2300 block of Washington St. The K-9 unit was deployed and sniffed the suspect’s vehicle. He was booked into the county jail on new charges including possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a weapon and felony interference with a law enforcement officer, with bond set at $50,000. There was also a $5,000 bond on the original warrant. He was released Saturday after posting surety bonds.

In another case, Raul Gamon-Rios was arrested at 8:59 a.m. Saturday at 12th and Adams and charged with having an obstructed (cracked) windshield, interference with a law enforcement officer and possession of marijuana. He was released after posting a $2,500 surety bond.

At 4:26 p.m. Saturday, police made a warrant arrest in the 1000 block of Stone Street. Leroy Bowers was wanted for failure to appear and probation violation. Marijuana was reportedly found on him during the arrest. He was booked on new charges of felony interference and possession of marijuana with bond set at $10,000.
