KHP patch

A Great Bend woman sustained what appeared to be serious injuries on Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in Russell County. The other driver, also from Great Bend, had a possible injury and her parents transported her to the hospital in Great Bend by private vehicle.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 11:33 a.m. at 200th Blvd. at 15th Street Road, or 2.9 miles North of I-70 on 200th Blvd.

Joy L. Torrez, 63, was driving a 2010 Nissan Titan when she failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and collided with a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Allyson Jayna Kaiser, 19. The Nissan traveled in a northwest direction where it rolled one time and came to rest in the ditch. The Chevy also came to rest in the ditch.

Torrez was transported to Russell Regional Hospital. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Kaiser was wearing a seat belt. She reported being in pain.

Both vehicles were removed by A & D Towing.
