Three people were injured, including two Great Bend residents, when two vehicles collided on K-156 just in Ellsworth Saturday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 83-year-old William M. Wachs of Ellsworth was northbound on K-156 in a 1991 Ford F-250 shortly 3:30 p.m. He attempted to make a left-hand turn from K-156 onto O’Donnell Drive, just north of the K-140 junction, and was struck by a 2012 Toyota Rav4 driven by 75-year-old Lon P. Cale of Great Bend.

Both drivers, as well as a passenger in the Rav4, 74-year-old Nancy E. Kale, also of Great Bend, were transported to Ellsworth County Medical Center with what were believed to be serious injuries. Wachs was the only occupant of the Ford F-250.

KHP said all three were properly seat belted at the time of the crash.
