on the record

HOISINGTON — A report of an armed person in a residential district near Pride Park in Hoisington Tuesday night was a false alarm, according to the Hoisington Police Department.

The Barton County Sheriff’s office received a report of an armed subject observed in the vicinity of E. Third Street and N. Hickory Street in Hoisington at approximately 9:55 p.m.

Hoisington Police Chief Kenton Doze said Wednesday morning that investigating officers determined the subject to be a juvenile playing with a toy gun in a yard.
