Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir said a vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation around 9 p.m. Tuesday but the stop led to an arrest on drug charges.

A vehicle was stopped on K-96 near milepost 178, west of Great Bend. During the course of the traffic stop, deputies became suspicious of potential drug activity and Sheriff’s Office K-9 Maxx was deployed, Bellendir stated in a news release.

“Maxx alerted to the presence of illegal substances. The occupants of the vehicle were asked to exit at which time the driver, identified as Cory Little, age 41 of Hoisington, Kansas, became combative. After a short struggle between Little and Sheriff’s Deputies he was taken into custody. Methamphetamine was found on Little’s person.”

Little was transported to the Barton County Jail without further incident where he was booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine and interference with a law enforcement officer. Little was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
