Injury accident reported near Brownell

BROWNELL — Three people were injured Sunday evening when a sport utility vehicle went off K-4, 2 miles west of Brownell.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred at 7:19 p.m. A 2004 GMC Envoy driven by Lance Michael Martin,  35, WaKeeney, was eastbound on K4 when the passenger behind Martin grabbed and pulled on the wheel. The driver over-corrected and the vehicle went across the roadway, coming to rest in the south ditch facing north.
Martin was not injured.
No one was wearing a seat belt.
Passengers Scotty Ray Cossey, 34, WaKeeney, and Heather Nichole Johnson, 26, Bee Branch, Ark., were taken to Hays Medical Center. Passenger Gretchen Denise Martinez, 40, WaKeeney, was taken to Wichita Medical Center.
The GMC was removed by Cheyenne Well Services.
