Kidnapping report was false alarm

A possible child kidnapping was reported to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office at 12:34 p.m. Monday on West U.S. 56 near Pawnee Rock. This was not a kidnapping and no one was ever in danger. According to Sheriff Brian Bellendir, this was a misunderstanding and lack of communication; no crime was committed.


Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency medical service made three ambulance runs on Monday. Firefighters made one carbon monoxide check. There were no fires.


Great Bend Police

A search warrant was executed at 11:27 a.m. Monday at 995 K St.

Theft of a wallet was reported at Goodwill Industries, 1705 Main.

An assault was reported at 2:19 p.m. at 5210 10th St.

An injury crash was reported at 4:03 p.m. at Broadway and Adams.

A possible narcotics violation was reported in the 100 block of 2nd St., Great Bend, at 7:13 p.m.


Barton County Sheriff’s Office

A fire was reported at p.m. at 1535 NE 100 Road, Claflin.

A battery was reported at 4:44 p.m. at 339 Marla St., Great Bend.
