Barton County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 32-year-old Larned man Tuesday after receiving a tip that he would attempt to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex in Great Bend. Actually, the meeting was set up by an online group known at Motor City Justice.
Lonny R. Miller was booked into the Barton County Detention Center on charges of indecent solicitation of a child, attempted exploitation of a child and electronic solicitation, and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
According ton Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir, during afternoon hours Tuesday, BCSO was contacted by Motor City Justice, an organization which claims to take a proactive stance in assisting law enforcement with the capture of alleged sexual predators involving children. Motor City Justice shared information with BCSO that led deputies to believe an individual was attempting to solicit unlawful activity with a juvenile.
Detectives and deputies set up surveillance in the 3700 block of 8th Street in Great Bend. A man who goes by the name “Lucian,” the founder of Motor City Justice, was also watching and recording Miller’s arrival on his cellphone for the group’s Facebook page.
Shortly after 5 p.m., deputies made contact with Miller. Deputies had reason to believe probable cause existed that Miller was attempting to solicit a 15-year-old for sex, Bellendir said. Miller was placed under arrest and transported to the jail without incident.
